Cognisance

In the first letter, I told you that to find your “something” you would have to lose “everything”. Hopefully, it has become apparent that your something is your everything. Your something is. Your everything is. You are, now, because.

The character who lived on Carnival Island did not reach enlightenment, you simply remembered you were the reader. The character did not remember you, you remembered you. Yet, the only way that you were able to express yourself within the story was through the limitations of reading. In the same way you can only read about the character, The Awareness can only be aware of you.

The abstractions the character was able to find are exclusive to the story of Carnival Island. Yet, the abstractions you are able to find are exclusive to your story. In other words, do not look for the same abstractions expressed in this book. Instead, look for the abstractions expressed in your experience. Once you are aware of an abstraction, its many expressions will become apparent and you will be able to find the infinite relationships between an expression and the nature of The Awareness.

Once the abstracting becomes second nature, you will find that abstractions and their expressions are in all things, and all nothings. You are not only able to abstract and find relationships within expressions of somethings, but also nothings. What does an empty house express? What does an empty hand express? What does an empty mind express?

Instead of abstracting Carnival Island, find abstractions within your awareness of the experience. Instead of abstracting the Leprechaun, find abstractions of the characters within the experience. Instead of abstracting the character in the story, find abstractions of the physical being of which you are aware. Make sure to abstract all possible things and no things, no matter how insignificant they may seem. Accordingly, abstract memories you observe, physical experiences you encounter and any thoughts that may appear.

The most important abstraction to become aware of is the abstraction of you. What is the abstraction that you have always seemed to express? In what way or manner do you choose to tackle obstacles and challenges? Is your expression of the ‘way or manner’ abstraction at all representative of how you choose to live your life? Similarly, is your expression of the ‘way or manner’ abstraction representative of how you choose to treat your friends and families? Is your expression of the ‘way or manner’ abstraction representative of how you choose anything? If this abstraction is the abstraction of you, are you able to predict what will happen next within the observation of your experience?

What you are trying to do is quite literally nothing. The character in this book did not have to do anything for you to remember that you are the reader. In the same way, you will not do anything for The Awareness to become aware of The Awareness. The only thing you are able to do is understand and accept the simple fact that there is literally nothing you can do. That is, the only thing you can is do nothing. The only thing left to do is to become nothing.

Until the inevitable becoming of nothing, find abstractions and expressions of yourself, as well as all aspects of the experience. It is likely that you have read this book with a sober mind. Should you find yourself in a different state of consciousness or a different level of awareness, make use of such an opportunity by finding abstractions and their many expressions. Should you find yourself in a state of sadness or joy, excitement or boredom, try to understand the experience from the perspective of The Awareness, instead of the perspective of a physical being.

Understand that in the same way the reader was aware of the character, the character was aware of the Oracle. That is, within your awareness of the experience, do not treat others as separate, but rather understand that they are to you what the Oracle is to the character. The Oracle and the character are in the same story, of which you are aware.

The Awareness is aware of the physical being who is reading this book, as well as the physical being who wrote it. The Awareness is aware of the physical being whose thoughts you are able to know, as well as the physical beings whose thoughts you have never known.

The only difference between the physical being of which you are aware, and another, is the perspective of awareness from which you are aware. Would you treat yourself the same way you would treat others? Would you hate yourself the same way you would hate others? Would you hurt yourself the same way you would hurt others?

In the same way you should love and care for yourself, you should love and care for others. They are as much you as you are you. Though it may seem difficult at times to love or to care for someone you might dislike or resent, remember all the times you have felt negatively toward yourself. Is self-loathing a good enough reason to hate and harm yourself? Is self-loathing a good enough reason to mistreat and judge yourself? Do you wish malice upon yourself? Do you wish anything upon yourself that is not influenced by love and care for your wellbeing?

Understand that when you hurt another, you are hurting yourself. When you hate another, you are hating yourself. When you mistreat another, you are mistreating yourself. When you judge another, you are judging yourself. When you do anything to another, you are doing it to yourself. Always try to act out of love. It may be difficult at first, but so is learning how to read, but here you are!

Abstract and unify. Express and love. There is nothing else that you can do that will help you remember nothingness. The only thing you can do is to love everything. Future lessons in this book will not make you remember, but rather make it impossible for you to forget. Though it is obvious that most things we’ve abstracted express the nature of The Awareness, you will soon find that all things and all beings are always expressing their true nature, The Awareness.

Mastery

The character on Carnival Island and the Piece-Keeper who remembered both abstracted the majority of their experience, and found expressions of the nature of The Awareness. The stories used to demonstrate the process by which one may abstract and find expressions in all things should only be used as examples. You must carefully observe and abstract all aspects of the experience of which you are aware and find expressions and reverberations in all things.

Though the persistent abstracting and finding of expressions may seem redundant, understand that this is insight meditation. It will lead you to many revelations that are exclusive to you. Instead of closing my eyes and observing nothing, I chose to keep them open and observe everything, until there was nothing left to observe. There are many paths to nothingness, but this was mine.

Do not assume that a thing has too little significance to be worthy of your abstracting. Instead, understand that you must abstract the very hesitancy of abstracting it. That is, if you believe a thing has too little significance to be abstracted, try to understand why. Why is this thing so insignificant to you? Why is this thing not worthy of your time? If this thing is so insignificant, why does it exist? If this thing is so insignificant, why are you giving it so much thought? If this thing is the only thing you are aware of, whenever you are aware of it, how can it be insignificant if it is the only thing you are aware of?

Do not assume a thing to be insignificant or unworthy of your time. Treat every thing with the same respect. Treat every thing with the same attention. Understand that whatever it is you are aware of, is what you are. That is, should you become aware of yourself in the mirror, you are aware of the knowing of the experience of looking into a mirror. You are the awareness of the knowing. Similarly, should you become aware of a single butterfly, you are aware of the knowing of the experience of a butterfly. You are the awareness of the butterfly.

How could the knowing of a butterfly be less significant than the knowing of a mirror, if it is the same awareness being aware of both the butterfly and the mirror? Treat every knowing of an experience with the same respect and attention. Treat every knowing of a person with the same love and devotion. Treat every knowing of a situation with the same recognition and mindfulness. Treat every knowing of yourself with the same compassion and understanding.

In the same way, do not assume the knowing of any specific individual is less or more significant than the knowing of another. If you are aware of the knowing of someone, do not disregard their presence within the experience. Try to understand why they are to the experience what they are to the experience. If the feeling of disassociation arises, use the opportunity to abstract the feeling of disassociation. If the feeling of familiarity arises, use the opportunity to abstract the familiarity of being aware. Whatever the experience, always abstract the situations within until there is nothing left to abstract.

Should you entertain the serenity of deep meditation, become aware of the thoughts that appear and abstract them and their many expressions. If a thought appears, try to understand where it is appearing. If a thought appears, try to understand to whom it is appearing. Abstract every aspect of every thought, until there is nothing left. Once there is nothing left in the awareness of thought, you will find all that is left, which is nothing. When you find this nothing, abstract it.

Should you know the experience in which a great sadness or pain has become, battle through the aching and abstract every aspect of every observation. Understand how the abstractions you recognise are expressing the nature of The Awareness. If pain appears, try to understand where it is appearing. If pain appears, try to understand to whom it is appearing. Is it appearing to the physical being, or The Awareness? If you are able to withstand the pain and live to tell the tale, what could this resilience possibly express?

Whenever you are abstracting the experience and the many expressions within, understand that you are only ever aware, now. Wherever you are abstracting the experience and the many expressions within, understand that you are only ever aware, here. Do not let your wavering mind lead you on this journey. Always remember why you are abstracting. In other words, remember that you are abstracting all aspects of your experience to recognise the relationship between the many expressions and the nature of The Awareness.

You do not have to abstract the concepts and ideas within the experience using any specific technique. You know yourself better than anyone, so only you will know the easiest way for you to abstract and understand complex concepts and ideas. Always remember that when you are finding expressions that express the nature of the Awareness, you are finding expressions of yourself, not some separate entity. Remember you are The Awareness that is only ever aware, now, here, because.

Hysteria

I know where you are, and you know where I am. How can you be anywhere other than here? How can I be anywhere other than here? It seems so obvious, that it almost seems ridiculous. Should you ever find yourself thinking that you know more than another, understand that all you know is all you know.

You may understand the nature of The Awareness and how it has been permeated throughout every aspect of every aspect, but this is The Awareness. In other words, we are all within The Awareness. We are all one. We are all here, together. Do not put yourself above another, for all is you. If another puts themself above you, do not try to prove them wrong, for it is still all you.

You must immerse yourself in a humbleness that allows you to see all perspectives as your own. Do not mock another who you may assume is mistaken, for you would be mocking yourself. Do not insult another who you may assume is deserving, for you would be insulting yourself. Do not patronise another who you may assume is below you, for you would be patronising yourself. In the same way you have forgiven yourself, forgive others. In the same way you have loved yourself, love others.

This is all here, for you. If not for you, then who is it for? Is the story not subject to the physical being? Is the physical being not subject to the experience? Is the experience not subject to The Knower? Is The Knower not subject to The Awareness? Are you not The Awareness? The story you know is the story you know. The body you have is the body you have. Everything you know is everything you know and what you do not know is what you do not know. All that you are aware of is all that you are aware of.

Yet, although this is all here for you, it is also all here for all others, who are also you. Do not take away from another, but choose to give. Do not burden another, but choose to liberate. All that you do to another, is all that you do to yourself. Would you want anything but love for yourself? Would you want anything but love?

I told you that you have to transcend The Awareness to become The Expression, but here you are, an expression. That is all. What are you expressing? The answer lies within the one who asks the question. The one who is to be found is within the one who is searching. What is seen is within the one who is seeing. Who are you? Where are you? What do you see?
