I remember what it felt like when I looked for my something. I understand how quickly you would be willing to give it all up, just to know. It’s as if everything in your life is just… there, and you are somewhere else… you are here. Unfortunately, the something that you desperately want is neither here nor there, so where is it? Where can something that is no where be found? How can someone even know where to start looking? Why even begin the search for something you are not even sure can be discovered? Why are you still looking? Why do I think I can help you?
I am the Leprechaun and this book is the room. I am not telling you to give up everything, though I am asking you to leave it all at the door, and pick it up on your way out. I want you to read this book with nothing to lose and nothing to fear. Once you have completed the journey, it is up to you what you choose to take and leave behind. It is up to you whether you choose to forget or remember what you learned. I am only showing you what is already here, though I understand why it cannot be seen.
I want to help you find your something without telling you where to look, but instead how to see. I want to save you an eternity of despair through the simple notion of acceptance. I want to give you the tools that help you find your something and hone your ability to express it to others. I want you to remember why you started searching at all. I want you to remember why you started any thing at all. I want you to remember.
I am not saying this world isn’t real, nor am I insinuating a matrix-like reality where you are living in a simulation. I am only showing you that your ability to assess any world’s reality is fallible and not at all a trustworthy medium through which you can determine or recognise truth. If you are finding it hard to believe that someone could be so deceived by images, sounds, aromas, tasting and the sensation of touch, try to remember a time you woke up from a dream and thought “Wow, that felt so real.” You’re right, it did feel real, and in the moment, it was real to you. It was real to you because you had no reason to believe it was not, until… you woke up.
No thing can happen at any time other than now. Although the physical being within the experience might say “But I remember what I did yesterday, and I was definitely doing it!”, that is you knowing a thought in which the belief in a “yesterday” exists. This is no easy understanding, for it requires you, The Knower, to disavow all remembered experiences as no more than the knowing of a thought wherein a memory exists. A memory that holds no significance to you, The Knower. A memory that is no different than a passing thought that is observed; A memory whose significance you must be able to let go of completely.
When I mentioned that the physical being must be ready and fully able to let go of everything, I meant everything. This is the everything the physical being must learn to let go of in the pursuit of the something. The physical being within the experience might believe that they have countless memories that they can remember and that those memories hold significant meaning, but that is simply the knowing of a thought in which the notion of sentimentality is entertained.
It may seem difficult to grasp the concept of no time, since it is all the physical being has ever believed in thus far. Instead of trying to imagine a world that is frozen in the now, wherein nothing changes, understand that it is impossible to catch the moment for it is so instantaneous, that by the time you find it, it is already gone. It is hard to conceptualise one moment in which you have always been, when the physical being believes that they remember being alive for so very long. However, try to understand that it was not the physical being being alive, but rather you knowing the experience of the physical being being alive. It was never the physical being within the experience that was knowing, it was you, The Knower.
As your flimsy fingers rake the mahogany table, you ponder the possibilities of your tomorrow. “What will I do?” You think to yourself, “Where will I be? When will I wake? When will I sleep? Where will I go?” The questions you seem to entertain are endless. Unfortunately, you remember that you are The Knower, and The Knower does not have the capacity of pondering the possibilities of any tomorrows.
You realise that in the remembering of a past, The Knower is knowing the experience in which a physical being is remembering a past. Similarly, in the pondering of the future, The Knower is knowing the experience in which a physical being is pondering the future. You look to the empty chalice that lays toppled to your left and vividly remember the night before. “How can the memory of yesterday be untrue? How can this experience of remembering be so convincing? How can this empty chalice remind me of a thing that I have never experienced?”
You do not remember memories, but rather know the experience of thought, in which a memory may or may not appear. You do not feel pain and sorrow, but rather know the experience in which a being expresses pain and sorrow. You do not know right and wrong, but rather you know the experience in which righteousness and wrongdoings exist. You cannot, and do not have the capacity to desire, for all you are capable of doing is knowing. You cannot desire a thing, but rather you know the experience in which desire is expressed. You cannot feel hatred or jealousy, but rather you know the experience in which hatred and jealousy may or may not be expressed.
The vines that seep through the cracks of your dwindled roof dangle like the thoughts that seep through the cracks of your mind. You notice a similarity in both your dwindling roof and your dwindling mind, in that they are both overwhelmed. “What are the chances… again!” You think to yourself… again! Suddenly, you remember that you are not a physical being that has the capacity to have chances, you are The Knower. You are The Knower, and The Knower is no thing, no where, no one and is only able to know, now.
The Knower does not exist within the experience, nor can The Knower ever exist, for existing is subject to the experience. In the realisation that you are not a physical being, but the knowing of an experience in which a physical being exists, many problems concerning doubt will arise. However, it is important to remember that you are not a physical being who is aware of all things, but rather you know the experience in which a physical being is experiencing doubt.
Although you are aware that you are The Knower, that can only ever know, it may be distressing to realise that The Knower cannot, and does not make decisions. You, The Knower, do not have the capacity to make choices or to use decisiveness in any way or manner. This is one of the hardest realisations to come to terms with, one that supposedly disavows a physical being’s right to freewill. However, if distress and affliction arise, remember that you are not the physical being experiencing them, but The Knower knowing the experience in which distress and affliction may or may not arise.
You are unable to make decisions, instead you know the experience of thought, wherein the mind alludes to the making of a decision. Although the physical being may remember previously making decisions, followed by necessary actions so as to bring the decisions to fruition, it was not you who made the decision. You are The Knower, unable to make any thing. You are, however, knowing the experience in which a physical being believes they have the capacity of making decisions.
This is not a suggested philosophy you can choose to embody, whereby you accept all decisions as inevitable, because The Knower does not know how to accept anything, only how to know. Rather, you are only ever knowing the experience in which philosophies may or may not exist, but you are not within the experience. If there are feelings of distress, remember that you are knowing the experience in which feelings may or may not express distress, but you are not the experience. You are not the experience, nor do you have the capacity to comprehend decisiveness, only the knowing of an experience in which decisiveness may or may not be used.
In the knowing of the experience of the physical world, the physical being may fall victim to the menace of doubt, more often than not. The physical being may doubt themself, as well as believe that they are not strong enough to fulfil the alignment this journey requires. Yet, it is important for the physical being to remember that The Knower cannot know belief, but only the experience in which beliefs may or may not exist. This means, that should the physical being assume The Knower is doing any thing that is not the knowing of an experience, the physical being has simply forgotten the eternal essence of The Knower. The physical being has forgotten the essence of The Knower, for The Knower can only ever know.
It only takes one moment to remember the essence of The Knower, for it is in the one moment of now that The Knower is knowing. Yet, there are many mechanisms within the experience known by you, The Knower, that seem to persuade the physical being that you, The Knower, are within the experience. The familiarity you have with the knowing of the experience is in itself the essence of The Knower, yet in the knowing, the physical being can forget that you are The Knower.
Though you know you’re still dreaming, you find it hard to believe, for it all seems so familiar. You remember the potent scent of an open bottle like it remembers you. You recognise the murmuring of the regulars and the bickering of the grumblers. You notice the generosity of the tenders and the reciprocity of the ones to whom they tend. Is it that everything is familiar, or simply that you believe it is?
“I simply do not understand how I can know this bar so well, although I have ever known it once? I know I have never been here before, yet I remember that I have. I am convinced that I am familiar with everything in this bar, the wooden doors, the rickety stools, the olden curtains and your eternal kindness. But… I do not know you, what is happening to me?” You are in shock of how familiar you have become with this friendly bar. “The Flaming Familiarity will do that to you! But don’t you worry, have a couple more drinks and I’ll tell you where to find the one you are searching for.” The tender tender reassures you once more.
There is no time when you can forget the essence of The Knower, for it is you, but it is possible that The Knower is knowing the experience in which a physical being has forgotten the unfathomable essence of you. In the forgetting of the essence of you, the physical being may attempt to remember The Knower, forgetting that it is impossible, only then would the physical being become aware of the illusion of The Knower being able to forget.
Should the physical being expose themself to the vivid feeling of experiencing a physical world through either the waking state, dreaming state or other forms of hallucinations, they must remember to align their understanding of the essence of you, The Knower, with their experience. That is, the physical being must understand that although it feels like they are experiencing a physical world, they understand that it is The Knower knowing the experience in which a physical being is able to experience a physical world. In other words, the physical being must align their observation of the physical world in the same way The Knower knows the experience, with no judgements or assumptions.
The physical being must be prepared to experience absolutely anything. The physical being must be prepared to see absolutely anything. The physical being must be prepared to find absolutely anything. The physical being must be prepared to always remember the essence of The Knower, and harness the understanding that is the indestructibility of The Knower. The physical being must be completely conscious of the invisible presence of you, The Knower, and understand that they will never be able to find you, but only because you have found them, by simply knowing the experience in which they exist.
The physical being must be prepared to experience a dream where they fly through the skies, and let go of the belief that it was a dream, as well as the belief that the dream state is less real than the waking state. The physical being must simply remember the experience of flying through the skies, understanding that the remembering is occurring through the observation of thought, wherein memories are remembered. Yet, you cannot remember nor experience a dream, but only know the experience in which a physical being may or may not remember the experience within a dream.
You open your jaded eyes and find yourself atop your rickety stool, in your homely cabin. You remember your dream as vividly as you do the crackling of the fireplace. You remember the bartender and all the stories you shared. You remember the secret to finding The Knower. You remember that to find The Knower, one must look no where. One must look no where at all, but until you are able to silence your thoughts, the darkness of your fastened eyes will surely do. You have become aware of the whereabouts of The Knower!
The physical being did not wait to reach enlightenment, or to know the ultimate order of the universe, before aligning themself with someone who might have already reached it. In other words, the physical being did not wait to know what cannot be known, before learning to empathise with others. The physical being did not wait to learn what cannot be learned, before trying to find ways to help and improve the livelihood of everyone and anyone. The physical being did not wait to remember what cannot be remembered, nothingness, before treating the world as an adventure wherein friends, family, memories, happiness and joy are all experiences to cherish for they are only ever here, now.
After following the path of enlightenment, the last thing that the physical being of which I was aware expected was actually finding all that they were searching for. For the sake of simplicity, I will be referring to myself as the physical being, although it is important to remember that I am simply The Awareness. However, it is easier to articulate the following recollections from the perspective of a physical being rather than the awareness of one. Therefore, in the spirit of relatability, I will be referring to the physical being I am aware of in the first person.
I would be lying if I said that I finished the sentence, for I could hardly speak anymore. Tears would fall from my eyes for no less than four hours. I understood that the very thing I could not understand, had always been… here. I remembered that in my most trying times, I had simply forgotten, yet it was only so that I could remember once again. I did not awaken, for I was never asleep. I did not reach enlightenment, for there was no thing to be reached. I did not learn something I had not already known. I did not find anything that was not already found.
All you know, is what you know. Of course, you are able to learn and explore any area of understanding that you wish, but you must remember that your interpretation of it, is your interpretation of it. If two individuals were asked to paint with the color blue, they would paint with their own interpretation of the color blue. Although the participants confirm that both blues are the same, each individual is superimposing their own interpretation on the other’s, so of course they would believe that they are seeing the same color.
The only one that can know your experience, is you. Although it is possible for me to document, demonstrate or retell certain happenings from your experience, it is inevitable that I will superimpose my own interpretation of my own experience, upon yours. It follows, that should you believe that you are able to perfectly understand another’s experience, as well as you do yours, simply remember how quickly The Believer recognised The Knower, and how quickly The Knower recognised you. You can always try to understand another’s experience, but it is important to remember that you will inevitably superimpose your own interpretation of your experience, upon theirs. Try to approach any judgement of others with a respect and humbleness that comes from your awareness that you only know what you know.
You remember the thought you observed which resulted in your change of direction, from heading to the carnival, to searching for an inn. You think it ridiculous, but choose to entertain it nonetheless. You see that the ‘change in direction’ abstraction was present in the thought you observed, the physical path you were walking, the horse drawn carriage and inevitably, the fellow who instructed the change in direction. The fellow would have observed a similar thought wherein the ‘change in direction’ abstraction was present, resulting in the horses turning the same corner.
The physical being must remember the infinite nature of The Awareness, always abstracting any concepts and ideas observed in the experience. Furthermore, in the same way you were able to transcend The Believer and The Knower to recognise yourself as The Awareness, you must attempt to not only abstract obvious concepts and ideas, but you must also abstract… abstractions! Should you recognise the abstraction of ‘two things side by side’ , or the abstraction of ‘a thing that is blue’, understand that each abstraction can always be further abstracted.
We must understand that although The Knower is no thing, and does not have the capacity of being an abstraction, since The Knower only ever knows, we must consciously remember and accept that it cannot be an abstraction. However, we are able to say that the experience expresses the infinite essence of The Knower, rather than The Knower itself. Instead of labelling no things, like The Knower and The Awareness, as abstractions, we can assume that they are being expressed by some thing. Therefore, it follows that the infinite essence of The Knower expresses The Knower, but what is The Knower expressing?
Confused, you walk away and place the ticket in your pocket, ready to enjoy the carnival. You remember that the Leprechaun at the entrance of the carnival also had a domino. Although, it was not wearing it as a necklace. You recognise an abstraction, the ‘leprechaun with a domino’. That is, you have now recognised two expressions of a Leprechaun with a domino.
How does ridiculousness express The Awareness? You remember transcending The Knower by becoming aware of The Knower. Since you were aware of The Knower, you could not be The Knower. Then you recognised that you are The Awareness. In the recognition of yourself, The Awareness, you recognised that you are aware of The Awareness, which meant you could not be The Awareness… yet you are. That is ridiculous!
After realising that you have come far in the recognition of abstractions and their many expressions, you decide to overcome your fear of looking ridiculous and line up for the carousel. As you stand in line, you recognise the abstraction that is ‘standing in line’, and further abstract it to be ‘waiting to be let in to somewhere’. As you make this realisation, you remember standing outside the gates of the carnival, when you first saw the Leprechaun.
You remember your desire to abstract reverberations, and realise that dominos are the perfect example. You know that once the dominos are standing in a line, should a domino fall, all subsequent pieces will follow. That is, as soon as the initial piece has toppled over, all subsequent pieces will follow.
You understand this quite easily. However, what you do not understand is the purpose behind the little Leprechaun repeating the same thing, over and over again. Why would anyone entertain such an inconsequential, menial and repetitive task? Suddenly you remember that you have just finished riding the carousel, which is an inconsequential, menial and repetitive task.
Yet, you realise that for as long as you can remember, you have always been doing things for no reason, other than for the doing of a thing. In the same way the little Leprechaun plays with its dominos because it is playing with its dominos, you rode the carousel because you rode the carousel. You remember that a physical being who aligns themself with the infinite and unfathomable nature of The Awareness cannot reason, but only ever be. In the same way, The Awareness can only ever be aware, for no reason other than because it is aware. The Awareness is aware because it is awareness.
So, a joke can be ridiculous, illogical and insensible. Instantly, you get it, but only because you can’t. That is, you remember the essence of The Knower, in that you are unable to comprehend The Knower, for The Knower is no thing, no where and only ever knowing, now. You understand the essence of The Knower, but you can never comprehend The Knower. Therefore, you get it, but only because you can’t.
In the remembrance of the nature of The Awareness, you follow the chain of consciousness all the way back to The Believer. You remember how you used to believe that the separation of things was undeniable. As you progressed and deconstructed your interpretation of what was assumed to be reality, you found that it was only your interpretation of a reality, hindered by beliefs, assumptions and sentimental attachments. In the dissecting of your being, you understood that there was never a physical being and a physical world, but rather one awareness aware of one knowing of one experience. There is only ever one awareness, regardless of what it is aware of.
You recognise parallel growth in both the anticipation of the rope walk and your disorderly excitement. The closer they near the rope, the closer you are to seeing them walk the rope. The closer you are to seeing them walk the rope, the closer The Knower is to knowing the experience in which a fellow walks a rope. The closer The Knower is to knowing the experience in which a fellow walks a rope, the closer The Awareness is to be aware of a fellow who walks a rope. You remember that you are aware, yet in the awareness you are able to abstract expressions within one moment of the experience, infinitely.
The Oracle calms down and returns to its seat. It looks at you and asks “Do you remember me yet?” You are stunned. You have no idea why the Oracle keeps asking you if you remember. “Remember wh-what?” You stutter. The Oracle follows “Do you remember who I am?” You are losing your mind. Lost, you mumble “Why… why would I remember you?” The Oracle reacts “Oh! Let me stop using these silly double quotes…” It’s me! I’m the Oracle, do you remember me yet?
“This is it, this is where I am supposed to be… which is here!” You cannot describe the emotions you are feeling, so you do the only thing you know how to do, which is cry. You are overwhelmed. You did not remember The Awareness, The Awareness remembered you! The Oracle looks at you and says “See! I told you I’m me! I’ve been telling you! You just had to remember! But now you know that you are also me, and I am you, and we are me and we are you! We are the story… how funny is that!”
For the purpose of clarity, the character in this story reached enlightenment, when you realised you were the reader, and not the character. The character did not remember you, you remembered you. You understood that you were aware of the story, and the character understood that they were in the story. However, you were not in the story, you were… wherever you were.
In the same way the character in this story surrendered their experiencing of Carnival Island, you must surrender your experiencing of yourself. Whether it be through deep meditation or insight concentration, the physical being must find nothing, allowing The Awareness to become aware of nothing. In the awareness of nothing, The Awareness will become aware of itself, and the physical being will remember what cannot be remembered.
“You must follow me, and you will learn what it means to be good. There is only love, love for the pieces, love for the journey, love for your neighbour, love for the Watcher. You must remember that everything you do is being watched by the Watcher, and if you try to trick the Watcher, you will be the fool. The Watcher is always here, but you must see the Watcher for yourself. “
“To see the eternal essence of the Watcher, you must not see with your eyes. You must not listen with your ears and you must not feel the Watcher’s presence with your hands. You must surrender to the will of the Watcher. You must sacrifice everything to be with the Watcher. You must observe nothing. You must not fear the devil of desire and you must not fear yourself. You must always follow the Watcher. You must remember what cannot be remembered. You must always love. Go on, my beloved neighbour, and spread the word of the Watcher, for the Watcher is here.”
This Leprechaun had traversed its own journey long enough to see for itself, the lessons it had once been taught. It also wanted to share the word of the Watcher with its beloved neighbour, in the hopes that they too would carry on the word. It said unto its neighbour, “My beloved neighbour, I have heard the word of The Watcher, and it is prophesied, and it is in all things. The Prophet lived so that I could remember. My beloved neighbour, it is through the teachings of the Prophet that you will discover the secret that cannot be kept, and it is through the Prophet that you will remember what cannot be forgotten.”
You must remember that all that is happening, is simply happening in order for the happening to go on. You must simply remember whence your remembering came. You must know that there is nothing left to be known.
The character who lived on Carnival Island did not reach enlightenment, you simply remembered you were the reader. The character did not remember you, you remembered you. Yet, the only way that you were able to express yourself within the story was through the limitations of reading. In the same way you can only read about the character, The Awareness can only be aware of you.
What you are trying to do is quite literally nothing. The character in this book did not have to do anything for you to remember that you are the reader. In the same way, you will not do anything for The Awareness to become aware of The Awareness. The only thing you are able to do is understand and accept the simple fact that there is literally nothing you can do. That is, the only thing you can is do nothing. The only thing left to do is to become nothing.
In the same way you should love and care for yourself, you should love and care for others. They are as much you as you are you. Though it may seem difficult at times to love or to care for someone you might dislike or resent, remember all the times you have felt negatively toward yourself. Is self-loathing a good enough reason to hate and harm yourself? Is self-loathing a good enough reason to mistreat and judge yourself? Do you wish malice upon yourself? Do you wish anything upon yourself that is not influenced by love and care for your wellbeing?
Whenever you are abstracting the experience and the many expressions within, understand that you are only ever aware, now. Wherever you are abstracting the experience and the many expressions within, understand that you are only ever aware, here. Do not let your wavering mind lead you on this journey. Always remember why you are abstracting. In other words, remember that you are abstracting all aspects of your experience to recognise the relationship between the many expressions and the nature of The Awareness.
You do not have to abstract the concepts and ideas within the experience using any specific technique. You know yourself better than anyone, so only you will know the easiest way for you to abstract and understand complex concepts and ideas. Always remember that when you are finding expressions that express the nature of the Awareness, you are finding expressions of yourself, not some separate entity. Remember you are The Awareness that is only ever aware, now, here, because.
Should you experience the unfortunate phenomenon that is heartbreak, see the love that was lost as an expression of the first moment you ever opened your eyes and became alive. See the pain of having lost a loved one as the sacrifice you, The Awareness, had to make in order to forget, only so that you could remember once again, even after you believed there was nothing to remember.
Many years have passed since the day you visited the annual carnival. Though you remember the reaching of enlightenment, you have forgotten what was found. The experience is illusive and distracting, enough to make you forget the meaning you had already found, again.
You find the expression in everything, though you realise it had always been finding you. You remember there was nothing to remember at all, for all you remembered was what you have been remembering. A single abstraction of infinity, with infinite possibilities. You find in the infinity the essence of your very being, the creator. You have reached what cannot be reached, for it has always been reaching. You have seen what cannot be seen, though it is always being observed.
You have seen the nothing which all somethings exist to express. The band that fills the stage, only to leave it empty. The eyes that open to see, only to be closed once more. The depression you have endured, only to remember joy. The something you have been, only to remember the nothing you always were. You realise you are neither nothing nor something, but everything.
You compare the forever-knowingness of the obvious, yet ambiguous knowing, to the awakening from a physical sleep every day. The sleeping is to the waking what forgetting is to remembering. The unknown to the known parallels belief and doubt, friend or foe, all that is and all that is not. You remember that you were only ever remembering, and will forever only remember. The day is to the night what life is to death, a never-ending cycle that is out of your control.
You find that the purpose of science, religion, spirituality, atheism is the very search of the infinite search, through physical, finite means. You understand that it is the letting go of trying to find, that allows the finding to occur, though it couldn’t be in any other way. You have not become everything, instead you remember that you always were. You know awakening, for you are awakening, always.
You remember a time when you were lost in a depression, where instead of finding purpose in standard concepts and ideas, you found an endless stream of ways to doubt yourself. In the remembrance of depression, you remember finding nothing in the world that mattered to you, and it had no purpose.
Nothingness becomes a concept of its own, one that is eternal and the closest thing to “seeing” the light in the dark. As soon as you remember how much you believed that “nothing in the world mattered” to you, you realise that the “nothing” in the world did in fact matter. Just as well, “no one” did care. An immense joy shakes you to your core and an explosion of every emotion ensues.
You understand that by the nature of having forgotten, you had to remember that there was something to remember, and it was the remembrance of remembering that was referred to as forgetting. You see that forgetting was to remembering what “nothing” was to “something”. You see the infinite never in the momentary always, and the enlightening darkness in the blinding light. You are to life what life is to you. Life is remembering your story as much as you are remembering life.
After watching the puppet show at the carnival, you decide to walk back to your cabin. You remembered… everything. Although you had fallen in a dreadful pit of misery, you were able to find your way out. You understand that having reached enlightenment does not, at all, relieve you from the tragedies of life. Instead, you remember that reaching enlightenment allows you to find peace within the acceptance of any situation.
You understand that influencing the experience by expressing abstractions will allow you to experience what you desire, but you are yet to unlock the boundless capabilities of expression. You decide to visit an old friend, the fortune telling Oracle from the haunted house! The Oracle is still at the carnival in the city centre, and your visit is long overdue. You remember the balcony beneath the purple skies. You remember your rememberance. You remember that you are not a character in a story , but the reader. You are The Awareness of a character in a story.
The crowd is excited and enjoying the entertainment, the perfect expression for The Awareness that is aware of the ridiculous chaos unfolding at the old bazaar. You remember that it is not two awareness’ that are each aware of one physical being, but rather one Awareness aware of countless experiences, one of which is you. You recognise the abstraction of conflict, first expressed by the merchant and the thief, and then by the preacher and the unholy.
The Oracle, drenched in purple attire, is helping the merchant restock all the fallen books. The clumsy drunkard has since waddled away, leaving the book merchant somewhat disgruntled. You walk up to the fortune telling, purple wearing Oracle and say “Hi! Do you remember me?”
The Oracle hands a pile of books to the merchant, looks up and recognises you. Pleased, the Oracle replies “Oh, but how can I forget? How can I not remember the me that knows the you! How can I not remember the you that you are! How can I not remember the we that we are! How could I forget? How could I forget? How could I forget? Of course I remember you! Of course I remember. Of course I remember. Do you remember me? Before you answer… follow me!”
“So!” the Oracle announces, “You never answered my question, do you remember me?” Without taking a second to think, you respond “Yes. I remember. I do. Sometimes I forget who I am, and sometimes I forget who you are, but right now I remember. Right now I remember. However, it has been very difficult to know, and not be able to do anything with the knowing.”
You remember that in the same way there is nothing to ‘remember’ before recognising the already present enlightenment, there is nothing to ‘remember’ for anyone. There is nothing to remember for anyone before recognising the already present enlightenment, because it is already here, now. It cannot be remembered or forgotten, but remembering and forgetting are the closest expressions of the knowing and not knowing of its presence, here, always, now.
“Yet, I must accept that they will become lost, only so that they can be found once more, by whatever it may be that is finding. I must accept that they will forget, only so that they can remember once more, by whatever it may be that is being remembered. I must accept that they will feel unbearable pain, only so that they can find peace once more, in whatever it may be that peace is found. I must accept that they will learn to hate, only so that they can learn to love once more.”
The kindling candles still igniting, behind the silence dim. You notice the Oracle smirking as it closes the ring of books, one final time. You realise that you had lost yourself in the words of the Oracle, and do not remember the handling of the final books. In the same way, you realise that you have lost yourself in the words of your mind, and can sometimes forget what it is unable to comprehend, for it is too distracted by the experience.
Have you learned to entertain the crowds? Have you learned to make them smile? Have you learned to make them laugh? Do you know who they are? Do you know? Do you remember them? Do you remember? Are they enjoying the stories that you tell? Are they enjoying the songs that you sing? Are you enjoying the stories that you tell? Are you enjoying the songs that you sing?
I know that I made you forget everything before coming on this journey, but I hope you do not regret it. I hope that I have shun a light on the darkness, and a darkness in the light. I hope that you are able to see the things that cannot be seen. I hope that you are able to hear the things that cannot be heard. I hope that you remember me.
I hope that you remember me in all your stories. I hope that you remember me in all your memories. I hope that you never forget me, but if you do, simply remember! Remember me. Remember you. Remember! Understand that though I may be gone, I can never leave. Understand that though you cannot see me, I can never disappear. Understand that though you cannot hear me, I am always speaking.
Some moments may be harder than others, but you must remember why you are here. What did you want to do? What stories did you want to tell? What songs did you want to sing? What games did you want to play? What memories did you want to remember? What did you want to experience? Who is the one that wanted anything? Who is the one that is… wanting?
Some moments you will forget about me. Some moments you will forget. But just remember, that there is nothing left to remember. You do not have to think of me. You do not have to remember me. You do not have to look for me. You do not have to do anything. There is nothing left, other than to enjoy. How will you enjoy? Would you like to learn, or would you like to teach? Would you like to rule, or would you like to follow? Which one?
Did you remember entering the room, or have you realised that you were always in it?
Do you actually want to remember or do you want to live? Do you actually want to return, or do you want to stay? Do you actually want to become nothing, or do you want to find everything?
I am not telling you that everything must be left behind. I am telling you that it must be forgotten. This book is helpful, but it can be blinding. Understand that what you express is what you express, whether or not you remember anything from this book. So why bother yourself with all the technicalities?
If you need me, I’ll be here. If you want to remember me, I’ll be here. If you want to find me, I’ll be here. So do not worry about me, I am always here. I am this book, and I am yours to read, whenever you want to remember.
